9 women are diagnosed every day with cervical cancer
75% of cervical cancers can be prevented with cervical screening
What is it?
A quick test that checks the health of your cervix. It is NOT a test for cancer, it is a test to help prevent cancer!!
Why is it important?
It is one of the best ways to protect yourself from cervical cancer. Detecting cell changes early means they can be monitored/treated - this means they do not get the chance to turn into cancer.
Who is eligible?
All women and people with a cervix between the ages of 25 and 64 should attend for their cervical screening. As soon as you get your letter book an appointment! If you missed your last test you don't need to wait - book now!
What happens at the appointment?
A small sample of the cells in your cervix are taken for testing. The test itself takes less than 5 minutes. Cervical screenings at this practice are done by female members of staff who will fully explain the process and answer any questions you may have.
